As the Head of the department of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE), I take the privilege to welcome you to the world of materials at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET). Modern era is an exciting time to be doing Materials Science & Engineering as we are truly living in a “Materials World”. Here, new materials-based technologies are developed to address the grand challenges not only for current days but also for the future time as well that the current society is facing.

No significant advancement of Scientific or Engineering field can be made without the advances of Materials Science & Engineering. It is an interdisciplinary field, at the forefront of science and engineering combining Engineering, Physics and Chemistry that deals with the processing, structure, properties and performance of materials from the atomic scale to the millimeter scale. Here, the department of Materials Science & Engineering imparts high quality of education and research program for the Undergraduate student with a focus on various areas such as Polymers, Ceramics, Liquid crystal, Composites and Metals for the application of Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Bio-composite, Semiconductor, Construction, Energy and other major engineering disciplines.

Created as a new department at RUET establishing in 2017, MSE is the home of approximately 270 undergraduate students, a bunch of highly qualified faculty members who are competitive in their teaching and research, and committed to the progress of our students and programs of the department. The labs are equipped with state-of-the-art technicians supported characterization and analytical lab instruments. The courses offered by the department are designed with due emphasis on the industrial requirements not only of the country but also for the world. RUET MSE is creating breakthroughs staying at the leading edge in the field of materials. The students of the department will be exposed to high quality inspirational teaching, learning and research to acquire knowledge, skills, innovation, attitudes and leadership necessary for entry and success in the professional practice.
